Saxe Named Executive Director

As part of the Burlington Soccer Club re-structuring for 2010, Taylor Saxe has been named Executive Director of the Club reporting directly to the BSC Board of Directors.  In his new role, Saxe will work closely with the U10 Academy Director, Age Group Coordinators and the Board to improve the overall experience for all BSC members.

"I am extremely excited to take on the role of Executive Director for BSC and believe the club has the potential to be great.  It is definetly a challenging environment out there, but with the support of the Board and members we can grow not only the club but the entire community.  I know there are a lot of talented and dedicated players at BSC, and I want to help them all reach their goals.  I want to help shape the lives of youth athletes, not only in soccer, but also as overall individuals." Saxe said.

Taylor has been a BSC coach for 5 years, coaching 2 state championship teams, 2 premier teams and sending 8 players to play in college from one team.  BSC is extremely excited about Taylor's new role and look forward to the positive direction he will guide the club.

O'Keefe Takes St. Louis Coaching Position

Jason O'Keefe Off to Saint Louis University

Dear BSC Members:
BSC Director of Coaching Jason O’Keefe has accepted a position to become the assistant coach for Saint Louis University men’s soccer team, effective immediately. With this new position, Jason will not be able to continue as the Director of Coaching for BSC. In Jason’s years at BSC, the program continued to offer better and more opportunities for youth soccer development in our community. The U10 Academy program was started, with Jason tapping Chris Neal to be the Academy Director. This program, currently in its second year, has proven to be a great success for the Club and all involved. Jason expanded the relationship between the Elon University soccer programs and BSC, with BSC Club Nights at both the Men’s and Women’s Elon games, along with the Elon players continuing to provide support at Team Camp, GK Training and other soccer clinics. His vision, experience and knowledge will be greatly missed by BSC. I think I can speak for everyone involved with BSC that Jason will be missed and that we all wish him great success. On a personal note, I will certainly miss our many conversations over the years about youth soccer, college soccer and various other topics. I will miss that daily interaction and working relationship that was developed over the years.
The Club will immediately start search for a new Director of Coaching, and fully anticipate continuing the tight connection with the Elon soccer programs. BSC looks forward to continuing to offer the youth soccer players in our community the best possible service.
Kind regards,
David Myers
President, Burlington Soccer Club

BSC U16 Girls Promoted to Premier

The U16 BSC Cardinal Girls defeated the CASL United Spartan Black team 4-2 on Sunday to capture the 1st Division East title and earn a promotion to the Premier Division for the fall of 2010.  This marks the second team within the last two years to earn a Premier spot (the highest level of competition offered by North Carolina Youth Soccer Association).  The team is coached by Taylor Saxe, one of the Directors of Coaching for BSC, and consists of 17 dedicated players committed to excellence.

Through the years, this team has progressed from Division II to Division I and now Premier.  They are a great example of the soccer development process that has been implemented at BSC.  The team works hard, have been provided excellent coaching and most importantly have been patient.  Soccer development does not happen overnight, so if the players and parents trust the process and are patient as the team develops, great things will happen.  Congratulations girls!  BSC is very proud of your accomplishments!
